Sounders Women open at NSGSC

Sounders Women open 2017 WPSL season at North Shore Girls Soccer Club

The Sounders Women won the WPSL Northwest Division in 2016 and advanced to the Western Conference Championship.   The team will be looking to build on these benchmarks with a stellar roster compiled by head coach Kim Calkins for 2017.  The Sounders Women will travel to Vancouver, BC to take on North Shore Girls Soccer Club (NSGSC) on Saturday, May 27th to open the 2017 WPSL season.

With a reloaded roster including local standouts Jalen Woodward, who won the 2016 NCAA Championship with USC, and 2016 Sounders Women leading scorer and Western Washington University player, Karli White, the women are geared for success.  Calkins searched the country to bring in current U-20 National Team players Emily Ogle, Maddie Elliston, and Shea Moyer, all from Penn State University among others.   The list of talented players is vast as the Sounders Women will look to travel into Canada and bring back three points on the day.

NSGSC will feature many local Canadian players and a compliment of NCAA standouts in their 2017 roster.   The team is coached by Gurveen Clair and will feature Rebecca Defer from Tulsa, Ciara McCormack from Yale, Ashleah McDonald from Kent State, and Olivia Sheppard from Princeton to name a few.

A competitive match is on the horizon as the summer season kicks off in Vancouver, BC.   The Sounders Women return to open the home schedule on Friday, June 2nd at Sunset Stadium in Sumner.   Tickets and the complete schedule can be found at www.sounderswomen.com.
