Sounders Women take on Portland and Eugene in home games this weekend
The Sounders Women host the Portland Spartans and the Eugene Timbers on June 11th and June 12th respectively. On Saturday June 11th, the Sounders Women will play the Portland Spartans at Mercer Island high school at 2pm as part of the Mercer Island FC Day with the Sounders Women. There will be a pre-match youth clinic before the Saturday match up.
The Portland Spartans started this past weekend with a loss to the Eugene Timbers with Grecia Acevedo scoring the lone goal for the Spartans. At 0-2, the Spartans will be looking to get into the win column at Mercer Island high school.
The Eugene Timbers have a win but currently sit at 1-3-1 in the WPSL Northwest Division. Led by Shea O’Connor with 2 goals, the Timbers will look to find a victory on Sunday at the red hot Sounders Women. The Timbers lost both games this past weekend to OSA and NSGSC. Game time is 6:30pm at Starfire Sports on Sunday June 12th.
The Sounders Women are in fine form early after a second win in two games against Issaquah this past weekend. Coach Kim Calkins group is still getting into town but the team has found a way to take all points so far in the WPSL season. Karli White hammered in two goals to lead the Sounders Women against Issaquah and she will be looking to add to this total this weekend.
The Saturday youth clinic will take place from 12pm to 1pm at Mercer Island high school stadium prior to the match against Portland. Registration for youth players can be found at http://youthclinicjune11.eventzilla.net/web/event?eventid=2138863049. Tickets and information for both games and the remaining schedule can be found at www.sounderswomen.com. Come see the future!
